About

When you talk to most experienced anglers about what fishing gear you would need before heading out into the ocean, you will most likely get some mixed results. Some anglers would tell you that you just need a bare minimum of a fishing rod, a hook and a lure, and that’s it, call it a day and call all day a bad day.

The truth of the matter is, the majority of fish in the oceans are bottom dwellers. If you go out to a local fishing lake or a few miles away to the sea, most of the time, most of the fish would rather stay at the bottom than swim up to the bait that they have been following around looking for a long time now. They will even hang around at the surface for a bit if they have to.

That is why these fish, bottom dwellers, love to eat smaller types of fish such as anchovies, mackerels, sardines, and other fish. You will notice that the bigger fish, like snook, bass, Marlin and other big game fish, would also prefer the bottom for hiding, and they could even hide under the ice in cold areas. This is what you would need for a bait that is going to draw these bigger fish to your location.

As mentioned above, there are different kinds of fishing baits for different kinds of fish. For example, you should use bait such as shad, mackerel, herring, mussels and sardines when you are fishing for tuna or other such fish in the ocean. These baits have a strong odour that attracts fish, and this is the reason why they are so popular among anglers for their fishing lure since they smell so good to fish.

There is also a lot of fish that are found close to the surface of the water. These fish do not have the strong smell as the other fish do, so they are not as favoured by fish for their bait. This is why many fishermen go to sea or use remote areas for their fishing activities. In addition to bait, they need to use lures to attract them to their boat and allow them to go in for a closer look.

There are a lot of things that can be used in fishing but you cannot be assured that you will always succeed every time. However, with the proper fishing equipment, you will be able to catch more fish than your wildest dreams could ever dream of.
